Cookie Consent Manager 3 — Cookie and Third-Party Service Management for MODX
More than just a cookie banner — a complete consent management solution: manage analytics, advertising scripts, videos, maps, and custom integrations directly from the MODX Manager.

Cookie Consent Manager 3 respects visitors' choices, controls the loading of integrated services, and maintains a consent log. Customize the interface, texts, and categories to match your website without requiring a subscription to a third-party cloud platform. No external dependencies or jQuery required.
Two Operating Modes
- Strict — non-essential services and external content are not loaded until the visitor grants consent for the corresponding category.
- Legacy — on the first visit, services may start before the visitor makes a choice. Previously saved refusals and restrictions are still respected.

Three Banner Layouts and Flexible Localization
- Full-width bottom banner, compact right-side banner, or compact left-side banner.
- Optional banner title and fully customizable texts, button labels, category names, and service names.
- Control the visibility of optional consent categories.
- Russian and English included out of the box, with support for custom translations into any additional website languages. Compatible with all MODX multilingual packages.
- Live preview directly in the MODX Manager.

Built-in Integrations
- Analytics: Yandex Metrica (including Webvisor), Top.Mail.Ru, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager.
- Advertising: Google Ads, VK Ads Pixel, Meta Pixel.
- Video: YouTube, RUTUBE, VK Video.
- Maps: Yandex Maps and Google Maps.
- Custom services: load JavaScript files from local paths or HTTPS URLs.
You can create multiple instances of the same service and freely assign integrations to consent categories. Visitors manage consent by category, not by individual tracking script. Google integrations support Consent Mode v2; consent requirements for individual GTM tags can be configured by the developer.

Videos, Maps, and iframes Under Control
In Strict mode, third-party video players and maps are replaced with informative placeholders and a consent settings button until permission is granted. The actual iframes remain inactive.- Dedicated CookieConsentVideo and CookieConsentMap snippets.
- Embed your own trusted HTML using the template element.
- Support for poster images, responsive dimensions, and landscape or portrait videos.
- Works with dynamically inserted content, including elements added via AJAX after page load.
For Developers: Fully Editable Service Adapters
If a third-party service changes its integration method, you can edit the built-in JavaScript adapter directly on your server. Your custom modifications are preserved during package updates: the component compares SHA256 hashes of the original files and automatically replaces only unmodified adapters. Conflicting changes are not merged automatically.Built-in adapters are compiled into a single minified JavaScript bundle during installation, upgrades, cache clearing from the MODX Manager, or when the manual rebuild button is clicked. If the build fails, the previously working bundle is preserved. Source files are never checked or compiled during visitor requests. Node.js and npm are not required on your hosting server.
The public JavaScript API, onAllowed(), lets developers implement custom consent-aware logic, including operations triggered asynchronously.
Smart Consent Updates
The component tracks changes to the configured services. If data processing within a category changes, renewed consent is required only for the affected category. Changes to visual appearance or translations do not reset existing consent preferences. Administrators can also request fresh consent from all visitors whenever necessary.Consent Log
Consent events are stored in files on your website's server. The MODX Manager provides access to event dates and types, selected categories, page URLs, detailed records, filtering, and CSV export. Permissions for viewing consent logs and modifying settings are managed separately.
Template Integration
The recommended integration requires just two snippets:- [[!CookieConsentAssets]] — where JavaScript assets should be loaded.
- [[!CookieConsentBanner]] — where the consent banner should appear.
For existing integrations, the unified [[!CookieConsent]] snippet is also available. There is no need to use both approaches simultaneously.
The package includes documentation in Russian and English, with practical examples covering installation, service configuration, and API usage.
Compatibility
- This package supports MODX 3 only: versions 3.1+, PHP 8.1+.
Cookie Consent Manager 3 — one central place to manage consent, third-party services, and external content on your MODX website.
